Birthday Spotlight: AVERY DEWOLF

DISCLAIMER: Now I know that Avery's birthday was yesterday. I texted her mom to tell her happy birthday from me since she was on the road and I couldn't send a birthday email and I promised her a card when she got home and then I started this post. That was all yesterday. *sigh*

Yet another day-late post:)

So this is Avery and I:

*pause for the collective awwww that will surely ensue after seeing the picture*

Yah, that's just a tad bit more realistic when it comes to our relationship. (I look like a shocked bear and she looks very much like a chipmunk)

So Avery is a person that I honestly can't remember how long I've been friends with. I have very vague memories of writing class together when I was about nine and she was eight. (Just FYI, she's always been adorable, ever since I can remember. About the ages 9-12ish I went through this really really awkward stage where I looked horrible in every single picture I was in. Being slightly chubby with braces doesn't help the awkwardness;) But Avery has never had an "awkward stage" since I've known her)

I have lotsa memories with her after that. Memories like hand clap games, a spontaneous trip to Wendys for frosties and fries, that time when you spoiled a part in Harry Potter (but only because she thought I already knew it!!), volleyball tournaments, failed selfies with my iPod, trying to beat each other with all the things we could do on our bikes without hands, or that time when we figured out the puns in a Veggie Tales song and laughed ourselves into hysterics, (it was the bubble rap song if you were wondering, and we both had this lightbulb moment that they meant bubble WRAP too. Yah. #wewereyoung), that sleepover where we built a fort and read deep into the night, or that time where we talked for almost three hours straight and didn't realize how fast time had gone. :D I'm having a moment like that now realizing how fast time has really gone. It's insane.

Her sparkling smile, her incredible art talent, her honesty, her incredible randomness, her love for Christ and for others are just a few of the reasons why this girl is so darn special to me.

This past year especially I've seen her mature and grow in so many ways. She's not only grown in her humility, but also in her willingness to be open, and just her relationship with her Savior. Not trying to puff your head up or anything, Avery, although I guess it's your birthday so why not! ;)

Some fun facts about Averu-

She's a devoted Lord of the Rings fan and owns two LOTR posters
She has an incredible knack with hair and almost always has it pinned up in some sort of pretty bun or braid
She's a sucker for anything exercised related, including but not limited to running, leg work, and killer ab routines
She's gone completely gluten-free, dairy-free and sugar-free and really enjoys it
Give her a Nike store and unlimited budget and you'll be best friends for life:)
One of her favorite authors is Leslie Ludy
She's played volleyball for three years, and this year will be her fourth
She loves singing and listening to (among other things) Celtic music
Even though she doesn't like writing she comes up with some of the coolest (and often creepiest) story ideas

Birthday Girls {Laurel&Jerica}

It's grown into a habit now. I love writing birthday blog posts! It also gives me good accountability at remembering the exact birthdates, which I am truly awful at. Just last night I was quizzed by my friends and found seriously lacking. I thought for sure I had a certain friend's birthday date down finally and it turns out I'm yet again ONE STINKIN DAY OFF.

*mentally re-composes self*

It's gotten to the point that I truly need to post the dates on my bulletin board in point 20 font. *groan*
BUT! TODAY I TRIUMPH! Today I kill two birds with one stone! Laurel Stewart's birthday was yesterday (don't worry, I sent her a birthday email) and Jerica Steinbach's is today! Which means double the fun and double the uniqueness of these two wonderful ladies.

Just a disclaimer before we start, I really try hard to remember every pony's birthdays, but like I said before, I kinda suck at it. A lot. Which is why I'm going to get a husband who is good at remembering dates and all that jazz but that is totally beside the point. I'm sorry if I have missed your birthday, and I apologize ahead of time because I'm sure I will in the future. Let's just say happy birthday to everyone!

Now that that's settled, let's start with Laurel Stewart, since her birthday was yesterday. I had the special privilege of playing two years of volleyball with Laurel, which is really where we became friends. Hanging out so much in such a short period of months can do that to a person;) This girl is sure something special! She has incredible volleyball skills, she is such a joy to be around, and she has the cutest laugh! I'm sorry, but it's true!

Some facts about Laurel....

She loves Harry Potter and I am proud to say I got to watch the 6th, 7th, and 8th movies with her. It always makes me unreasonably happy when someone joins the Harry Potter fandom. I didn't technically make her join but I aided her along the way :D
She also loves puppy chow
You can never spend too much time with her without hearing her laugh. She does it a lot;)
She isn't always as talkative in large groups, but one on one is even better because that's when she's in her element!
She's such a funny combination of morning person and night owl! She enjoys being up early, but she also likes to sleep in. She's also guilty of staying up until midnight without realizing it! Her goal (as I last heard) was to get to bed at 10:15. Or maybe it was 10. Either way, I'm impressed! I'm never ever in bed by 10.
She's officially read the Hobbit! Now to convince her to read the actual series... yes, Precious...
She loves sweets and (I will never understand this) coffee. 0_o
PLUS PLUS she has the cutest collection of scarves! At our co-op this winter she always had a new one on, and they were never not cute! That's pretty impressive to me.

If you aren't convinced already, Laurel is absolutely wonderful! (I don't really have any pictures of her and I together, which is a true crime.... Take that back! I have one of us playing volleyball. Wadya know?)

Okay.

Jerica is such a wonderful person and I have so many fun memories with her. Lots are (can you guess?) also from volleyball! We also have some pretty spectacular sleepovers. Remember when we watched the Hobbit for the first time and gorged ourselves on funfetti puppy chow and sour patch kids? Or when we had that magnificent photo shoot on the most windy day we could have possibly picked? We've stayed up until midnight texting, we've argued but always made up, she was the one to set me the ball that led to my first hit, and I WAS THE ONE WHO SHOWED HER THE WAY TO THE DARK SIDE! After reading the hobbit and watching both parts (with yours truly) I'm doing my very best to convince her to start on the oh-so-scary-task of reading the Lord of the Rings.

Facts about Jerica....

She doesn't like chocolate.

She actually much prefers the fruity candies, like sour patch kids or jolly ranchers.
She loves chevron
The most she's driven in their giant mammoth of a vehicle at one time is five hours. I am still EXTREMELY impressed.
She will never eat day-old cookies. Only fresh-out-of-the-oven ones. Call her picky, but she has good taste!
She always types with her thumbs when she uses her iPod. I'm a one finger girl, so that also impresses me.
She's extremely studios and smart, and has high hopes of pursuing a career that involves biology. To prove how much she loves it, she's going to a biology camp this summer! She asked if I wanted to go, I asked if she was insane. :D I'm just glad God gifted people other then me with gifts like that!
She never cries for movies. o.o
She's extremely athletic
She was adopted on May 15th fourteen years ago.
She's like Laurel in that she's a very weird mix of night owl and morning person. She gets up at six freakin o'clock in the morning to do MATH, but stays up until 10:30 or 11 most nights. She's a crazy, but I love her;)

Gemma Abrams, Fifteen!!!! (A Day Late)

This might say something about my personality, buuuutttt Gemma's birthday was yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I'm just now writing this today!!!!!!

GUYS SHE'S FIFTEEN :D :D I love this girl so dang much. Funny story about how we started emailing, actually. I don't know how many years ago this was, three, four, but I was sitting at the computer emailing, and I decided that (for some reason) I didn't have enough people to email (kinda like the friends thing on Pinterest? I NEED MORE FOLLOWERS! But I digress). A part of me vaguely remembered Gemma from dance camp the previous summer, and since Avery always sent group emails with her on the list I decided hey! let's email this random stranger I've only exchanged five words with in my life! (again with the saying something about my personality)
I made sure to specify that I was Avery's friend, and that I was not a stalker. I'm pretty sure that was even in the title. "From Chloe, a friend of Avery." Yup.

She responded relatively quickly, and soon we were emailing two to three times a day! I still have a diary entry about this. "BIG NEWS: I have found a kindred spirit/emailing buddy!! Her name is Gemma Abrams, (or, Gemms) the infamous younger sister of Hannah Abrams! She's super sweet, and a VERY consistent emailer. That's my kind of gal." :) :)

So we've been emailing and Skyping and texting occasionally and even sometimes talking on the phone ever since! Haha I remember the first time I Skyped her, I was so stressed out. We'd been emailing for a long time but I'd never heard her talk, and I'd only seen her in pictures. (we sent each other a lot of those). My thoughts were a mixture of "what if she doesn't like me? what if I don't like her as much as when she emails? what if I hate the way she talks? what if she thinks I'm annoying?"

Guys I had absolutely nothing to worry about. Gemma is one of my best friends now!!!!!!!!!!! She is FUN, she is witty, she is honest, she is loyal, she's a Whovian and a Ringer and a bookworm and a chocolate hog.

Some random facts about her......

-She loves Doctor Who so much she owns her own sonic screwdriver and doctor who scarf, has seen all the episodes (I'm almost positive), hates Rose, and loves the Ninth Doctor.
-She also loves Winnie the pooh and has exceptional pooh-drawing-skills
-She helps lead a dance group on Tuesdays and Thursdays
- She sneezes when she eats chocolate!
-She loves Thor and Avengers and will quote it with the best of us! (we've had so many MARVEL quoting wars over Google+)

- She dislikes math, waking up early, Harry Potter (she's crazy), and people abbreviating doctor who to dr. who. Trust me, I only did that once.
-She's an impulsive writer :D
-She has three Newfoundlands. I think. I just know her family has them and she loves them. I'm not overly concerned with numbers:)
- She doesn't really take much time with her spelling which leads to quite a bit of confusion and laughter
-She sends me emails every Tuesday with a biology joke and just to tell me she's thinking about me while I go to class!
-She fangirls over The Way of Kings book series and has convinced me to read it when our library gets it
- She's a total Lord of the Rings geek. I'm sorry. There's no denying that one.
-She enjoys reading Shakespeare
-SHE HAS A LLAMA SWEATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Enough said.

She's pretty stinkin awesome if you hadn't already picked that up, and she turned fifteen yesterday! I'm so blessed to have a friend like her! Love you Gemmy!!!!!!
