Just a few days ago I was doing my  Bible time and I decided to look through my old Prayer Journal entries (if you don't keep one I strongly recommend you do!).  This was one of the lists I found that I had made, listing all the things that I wouldn't have if I didn't have God.  So I wanted to share them with you all! 

This was inspired by a verse in the bible that uses the wording "if it had not been the Lord on our side".  Unfortunately, I didn't write down the reference and so I have no clue where it was from:(

• I wouldn't sleep well when I was afraid
• There would be nobody to look for a miracle from
• I'd be left with questions like Who am I?  Where did I come from?
• I'd be forced to ask the biggest question-Why am I here?- and have no answer.
• When I'm scared, or frustrated, or sad, there'd be nobody to turn to who would really understand
• Peace would desert me
• When other friends were gone I'd have nobody
• No one would be there to fill me up, help me when I'm down
• I wouldn't know the meaning of true love
• Deep down, I would always be unhappy
• God wouldn't be there as an example or motivation
• There would be a void in my life
• When I'd have thoughts like "I'm ugly.  Nobody loves me.  All my friends think I'm weird," there would be no assurance that yes, I'm beautiful in the sight of God

That is such a depressing and sad picture, and there are so many people who live like this.  I don't want to end on such a sad note, so I'll go and list all the things that we have now that we have God!

I wouldn't sleep well when I was afraid: God is there to talk to when I can't fall asleep.

There would be nobody to look for a miracle from: God is always there, and shows Himself through miracles everyday

I'd be left with questions like Who am I?  Where did I come from?: I am Child of my Father in Heaven, and He created me.

I'd be forced to ask the biggest question-Why am I here?- and have no answer.  He put me here with a purpose: To glorify Him. 

When I'm scared, or frustrated, or sad, there'd be nobody to turn to who would really understand: He was a man on earth for a part of his life.  He completely understands what I'm going through!  Plus He knows me through and through.  There's nothing I can hide from Him, and yet He still loves me.

Peace would desert me: He has promised me His peace!

When other friends were gone I'd have nobody: He has never left me, and will never do so.

No one would be there to fill me up, help me when I'm down:  Just talking to Him helps me up.

I wouldn't know the meaning of true love: True love- a love that would die on a cross for someone like me.

Deep down, I would always be unhappy, and there would be a void in my life: Now that I'm His child I have a purpose and the void in my life is filled.

God wouldn't be there as an example or motivation: I can look to His word and find examples of Him as a man and in heaven.  I know how He wants me to live! 

When I'd have thoughts like "I'm ugly.  Nobody loves me.  All my friends think I'm weird," there would be no assurance that yes, I'm beautiful in the sight of God: Because that's one of my favorite parts.  No matter what I do, or how ugly I feel, none of that matters to God.  His love doesn't look to the outside and if I have my makeup applied correctly or not.  His love is a love that has no limits.  And that's the greatest love of all.
