Favorite Character: Hermione Granger.

I don't even know where to start.  Seven books, eight movies, and Hermione Granger is one of my favorites in both.

Not only is she smart and beautiful, but she's also loyal and funny and flawed.  Hermione has to be one of my top favorite female heroes in any book I've ever read.

For starters, I love the fact that she's willing to be smart and not care if people thinks she's a know-it-all.  Sometimes she can be a little insufferable, but then, can't we all?  Harry and Ron would've been long dead without Hermione.  To name a few she's performed countless spells they didn't know how to do, read books and been able to tell them about things that they would've been clueless on, she remembered to put away the painting in Grimwauld place for fear Snape might find them, she put up the enchantments that kept them safe,  she was the one who was prepared weeks in advance for the chance they'd have to leave at the drop of a hat, and even after it was all said and done she still went back and finished her Hogwarts education.   Just to name a few.  This girl is ridiculously smart.  In our world sometimes I think to be smart is looked down on, but Hermione is such a stark contrast to that.

And yet J.K Rowling does such a good job of balancing it out!!  Hermione isn't perfect, or stunningly beautiful, or sought out by all the guys.  She also doesn't have loads of friends and doesn't always know the right thing to say (although nine times out ten she'll give you a witty sarcastic answer).
She starts an organization against elf mistreatment (SPEW) that nobody supports, she isn't a ridiculously strong girl that never cries, and she can fight with Ron like nobody else.

But all of these are overshadowed by her loyalty, her courage, her words and her heart.  When Ron leaves she stays to support Harry, even though it hurts her terribly.  Even when she was terrified their countless plans could go wrong she still helped.  When she had to erase her parent's memory to keep them safe she did so.  When things went wrong she may  have cried but she didn't give up.  When Bellatrix tortured her for information she didn't give it.
Hermione Granger is a beautiful example of a loyal girl who can remain friends with a guy and never marry him, who can be sarcastic and clever but know when to hold her tongue.   I also love how even when people called her names and Harry and Ron would've gladly fought the bullies, she held her head high and told them not to.  She didn't care what people thought of her, and that is one of my favorite things about her.
Hermione Granger.  The brightest witch of her age.
