For love of Jellybeans!!!!!!!!!!

Sunday, April 28, 2013

My brothers are currently in a jellybeans stage!  :)

Noah, being the organized planner that he is, color sorted them all into muffin tins. It made me smile!
I was shocked at some of the bizzarre flavors that were in that bag- and even more shocked when I tried them and found out that they tasted EXACTLY like they were supposed to?!?!  Take these, for example. (pretend I'm pointing at the next picture)
They look perfectly innocent enough, white with a few yellow specks on them.  But what if I told you their flavor?

BUTTERED POPCORN!!!!!!!!!
Oh yes, I'm not joking.  And the disgusting part- they taste
JUST like popcorn.  *shudder*  I didn't even swallow mine!
Next, we have a favorite with everyone (unless it's in jelly bean form!)

CHOCOLATE!
And (prepared to be amazed) it really did taste like I was eating chewy little pieces of chocolate.
Creepy? Yes.

Next we have a spicy jellybean (perfect for Mr. Dewolf and his love of hot tamale candy!)

SPICY CINNAMON!
Now these, I actually liked.  They were small and spicy and the perfect shade of red!!
*peeks at next picture* Oh yes!  You can guess why I liked this one when you read the flavor...

Kiwi Strawberry Smoothie!!!
Yummy yummy, this was good.  It was fruity and apparently supposed to taste "smoothie-ish".

Some others that I tasted:
Berry Blue
Fruit Punch
Tiramisu
Peach
Cappuchino
Strawberry Cheesecake

{Here are some things I bet you didn't know about these little beans}
  • They're just 4 calories per bean
  • Jelly beans are both fat-free and gluten-free
  • You used to be a able to get a flavor that tasted like dirt (EWWW!)
  • The Jelly Belly company created the blueberry flavor in honor of Ronald Raegan's presidentia inaugeration when over three tons of Jelly beans were consumed during the festivities!
  • It takes 7 to 21 days to make a single jelly bean!
  • Enough jelly beans were eaten in a year to circle the world five times!
The first eight orginial flavors introduced in 1976:
Very Cherry, Root Beer, Cream Soda, Tangerine, Green Apple, Lemon, Licorice and Grape

And of course, my favorite: THEY GIVE YOU ENERGY FOR PLAYING VOLLEYBALL!!!!!!!  :) :) :)

  2. My violin teacher once gave me a popcorn jelly bean telling me it was white chocolate or something like that. Yuck. My favorites are fruity (blueberry tangerine) or chocolate;) All those facts were cool - who knew it took so long to make a jellybean? It'll make me appreciate it more!

  3. Mmmmmm, a whole post about jelly beans??? Can it get any better! Love the fun facts... I didn't know they made a dirt flavor one! I actually like buttered popcorn, but I'll agree with you that chocolate is DISGUSTING. My favorite flavors are probably 7-up and the berry/watermelon ones. :)
