Publicly.
Ahem. BUT in honor of the fast-approaching day where I will be eating chocolate by myself, I present to you my five all-time book crushes.
1. Gilbert Blythe from the Anne of Green Gables series
I think I had this crush before I knew what crushes were. I LOVED Gilbert, from his curly mop of hair to his witty retorts to his un-dying love for Anne. I gobbled it up and read that series through with relish. Gilbert was my hero for sure!
I could also never wrap my mind around WHY the HECK Anne wasn't head-over-heels in love with this fella!!!!
2. Kaladin Stormblessed from the Stormlight Archives series
Quiet and troubled, Kaladin Stormblessed is basically the opposite of a Gilbert. And yet- and yet- There were so many sparks of promise and potential in the first book, and then you read his backstory and you see the conditions this dude is in and you just can't help feeling so blasted SORRY for him!
And of course it's right when you're getting really mad at Kaladin in the second book that the author decides to drop a bombshell of a plot twist that just makes you love this mysterious, chivalrous, brave young Mr. Stormblessed all the more.
Side note: I HAVE THE BIGGEST OTP IN THIS SERIES THAT I CAN'T EVEN BEGIN TO TELL YOU ABOUT BECAUSE IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL AND PRECIOUS. SHAYLYN+KALADIN FOREVER, GUYS.
3. Hector from The Girl of Fire and Thorns trilogy
Hector, Hector, Hector. The guard who is chivalrous and loyal and stubborn as a whip! He was the most surprising of all the book crushes because I DID expect him to fall for her but I didn't expect her to love him back!
It's interesting because he's one of the few characters who I can never envision what he looks like. It's his honorable character and the sweet moments where he lets down his wall for her to see that he's the most human and the most loveable.
This. Guy. His terribly sarcastic lines have made me cringe, snicker, and laugh out loud!
He's surprisingly sweet and tender with Cress, but I can never decide if his feelings are true or not. He's one tough cookie to read!! It also doesn't help when he can barely say anything serious for the life of him, constantly throws out sarcastic comments, and makes everyone fall in love with him by turning on his endearing charm.
5. Peeta from The Hunger Games trilogy
This is book-Peeta, mind you: the sweet, sensitive baker whose character development is huge and loyalty to Katniss even more so. I love that he is so willing to sacrifice himself for Katniss, and just the fact that he pursues her, loves her, and wants her even when she's being the biggest jerk on the face of this planet is so precious. ^_^
98% of why I was near tears while reading Mockingjay was because of this dude.
and now that I have all the nostalgic feelz.....
Chloe Salts is an aspiring writer, pumpkin latte snob, sweater-loving sophomore who is slowly learning, day by day, what it means to fall in love with her Savior.

DeleteD'awww, Eve! You too girly! Actually your post about sprucing your blog up for Valentine's Day was what inspired me:) :)
Oh man. I was expecting the usual Peeta and Thorne stuff, which is totally agreeable coz I absolutely love them, but then I saw GILBERT!! I love that guy! I love it when Anne smashes a chalkboard over his head and I don't understand how she managed to spend so many years not in love with him. You've pretty much persuaded me to rewatch that movie and the other two guys I've never heard about sound amazing too. So I need to find those books ;) Ahh Winnie the Pooh is so wise.
ReplyDelete-M
The Life of Little Me
I love how everyone can agree on him as the perfect book man :) :) It maketh me happy.

This was so great! XD For me, Robin Hood will always be my biggest fictional crush, but, man, Gilbert, Thorne, and Peeta are close seconds!
ReplyDeleteAwwwww for sure! Did you ever watch the Disney version of Robin Hood? That movie has some of my favorite childhood memories locked up in it:) Ooooooooo da laly!!!!
DeleteGILBERT. Me and my best friend used to watch the movies and talk about him almost the whole time. He sets dangerous expectations for his fellow menfolk. Seriously...I'm thinking and can't find anyhing that isn't perfect about him.
ReplyDeleteI KNOW. Dangerously high expectations. Our poor future husbands, having to compete with Gil!! ;-)
DeleteOh my gosh! Thorne, ah! Love him!

Deleteooooooo a link up!! I'd love to!! Thank you!
GILBERT...yesss!
ReplyDeleteHave you ever read the Christy Miller Series? It's a Christian book series that I've read and it follows this Christian girl's entire life! My favorite character from the book was Todd because of how his love for Christ inspired Christy and everyone that he was around. I really wish he was a real Christian guy that I knew ♥♥
I have, but it was a long time ago. I DO remember Todd though, and how SWEET he was!! Man!! I'm with ya, girly. The world could use a couple more Gilberts and Todds ^_^
DeleteUGH. PEETA. Isn't he just great? :)
ReplyDeleteLoved this. <3
xx Nicole Rose
PEETA BABY. YES. GREAT DOES NOT BEGIN.
DeleteI adore this post so much! Gilbert, Peeta, and Thorne? YES! Other than those, one of my #1 book crushes is Percy Jackson. *faints*

Awww haha you fangirl you :D :D I've been waiting for months for the second Percy Jackson book to be at my library and so far haven't had much luck. Looks like you get Percy all to yourself, Hannah dear :) :)
