Colorado Trip

DAY ONE:

After nine hours of driving we're officially in Colorado!!! (If the mountains weren't evidence enough our popping ears definitely alerted us to that fact)

We arrived there around 6 and ate supper, rented our equipment, and got settled into our condo:

DAY TWO:

All suited up and ready for our first skiing lesson!

Our gorgeous view:

Us four girls had a three hour lesson in the morning and another one in the afternoon, while Gabriel and Noah went off and tried snow boarding.

By the end of the day we were all exhausted and sore in places we definitely weren't expecting, but loads more confident whizzing around on the sticks on our feet.

Unfortunately, our level of confidence didn't extend to the ski lifts, and on our first try at dismounting we *ahem* all managed to crash into a big pile of arms and legs. Classy!

FIRST TIME SKIING COMPLETE!!!!

DAY THREE-

Lessons over, we all assembled and went down the green mountain slope together!

Later in the afternoon Noah, Dada, Grandpa and I took two ski lifts (which I could now dismount like a pro!) up to Noah and I's first blue slope. For those who don't understand skiing lingo (I'm still learning myself!), green slopes are for beginners and blues are intermediate.

I totally botched the blues. Totally.

My dad was sweet and said I only fell two times, but my brother was brutal and said it was way more then that and more like five. #hesprobablyright

DAY FOUR

The last day only Noah, Gabe, Dada, Grandpa and I went out on the slopes. The girls were tired and I honestly don't blame them.

Me and my skies... So happy together... 😘

Hours of skiing later we all clomped into the condo, tired but fulfilled.

And you know what?

I loved the heart-in-your-throat runs down the mountain, wind whipping my face and everything whirring by in a blur of white.
I loved the sore muscles at the end of each day.
I loved the ache in my throat when I first looked up up up at the glistening, snow-capped mountains.
I loved the family jokes, the teasing, the dares, the wipe-outs.
I loved the puff of snow every time someone slowed down.
I loved that I was so blessed to get to come here.

Colorado, you were amazing!

    1. Although this wasn't my first time in Colorado, this was my first time skiing, which was scary and exhilarating all at once! :) It was much easier to learn that I was anticipating, and I can't wait to go back <3

  3. I grew up skiing, haven't done it in years but it definitely makes you sore in places you wouldn't imagine. Such a great feeling when you conquer a hard run though.

    1. Tell me about it! I felt so ridiculous sometimes, just lying in the snow with my legs all twisted up. People there are so sweet and helped me up almost every time though, before I figured out how to do it on my own!
