How To Maintain Blunt Bangs

Sunday, November 23, 2014

I've had blunt bangs like this for more then a year now (craziness!) and I've loved them.  These are some tips and lessons I've learned the hard way.

  • If you play a sport, invest in head sweatbands. SERIOUSLY.  Even if you don't play a sport, you will still love these. They are absolute lifesavers.  It contains every stray bang piece for you in one simple move.  An example would be this Nike head sweatband upon which I am currently crushing:

  • Straighten individual pieces of hair.  And speaking of straightening your bangs, I've found that it's easier to straighten the individual bang pieces as opposed to the whole bang.  This generally leaves a big bump.

  • Always keep at least two bobby pins with you wherever you go.  I've learned this lesson the hard way, whether it's through getting my bangs wet, having an especially crazy hair day, wind, or whatever, it's so nice to swipe them back and out of my face.  Also, word to the wise: Wet blunt bangs look AWFUL.  They cling to your forehead and stick out at odd angles.  Trust me on this one!! Twisting wet bangs back is a life saver!

  • Invest in your own pair of special hair-cutting scissors.  You really aren't going to want to keep plopping down your money for bang trims every month. To help you out I've found a video on how to trim blunt  bangs.  I've never used this method before (I generally wet my hair and cut up with the scissors) but the next time I trim my bangs I will be trying the video below out!

  • Invest in mini bobby pins.  One reason being because they're so DARN CUTE! They're especially helpful if you're trying to braid back your bangs, and the braids aren't terribly big.

  • If mini bobby pins don't work, spray them with hairspray.  Voila!  Hairspray=life.
  • Always ALWAYS blow dry after showers.  Your blow dryer is your best friend from now on!  For me, when I blow dry them they never look like I want them to, so I have to blow dry and straighten.  Blow drying makes the process so much faster as opposed to air dry, though.

Happy hairstyling!
