Writer's Block: How do you face it?

Monday, December 16, 2013

So I was reading THIS really good article about how to overcome writer's block, and I wanted you all's opinions and ideas!  What crazy and unique things do you do to get yourself out of this terrible rut? Whether it's for novels, school assignments, or just writing in general.  How do you motivate yourself?
Comment or email me and then I'll compile all the answers in a blog post!

Here are some of the things I do......

  • Eat chocolate.
  • And more chocolate.
  • Make myself goals (i.e. write for a certain number of minutes and then reward myself with more chocolate, etc.)
  • Listen to inspiring music that makes me want to write
  • Do it late at night when it's really quiet.  This is when I normally feel the most inspired.  Like right now!  9:45 at night and I'm writing a blog post.  I tend to be pretty awake at this point in the day.
  • Let's see.... I also do
  • Blog post
  • Short stories
  • Or poems based on pictures to help get my creative gears turning
So how about you?  What do you do?

Love,
Chloe

  1. Just sit there and make myself think until I have something to write. Nothing fancy, but it works eventually ;).

  2. While I'm definitely not a writer, when I have to write something for school or fun and I'm stuck, I usually jam write. Our teacher made us do it in class, and it really helped. Basically, write down every idea that comes to mind as fast as you can, even the really stupid ones. Eventually, you come up with something worth writing down.
When you have to keep writing, it forces you to get the bad ideas out, which leaves room for new ones. :)
So yes... take all those thoughts from your non-writer friend with a grain of salt. :) Great post! Can totally to chocolate-covered writing experiences. :)
