15 Easy Snacks High on Protein

Thursday, August 08, 2013

For the longest time I've wanted to do a blog post about snacks, and with this fall bringing sports like football and volleyball into the picture, I thought this would be the perfect time.
So I've rounded up a bunch of recipes and purty pictures from my own stash and from other blogger's.

Who wants to start the morning with this beautiful parfait?  I know I do!!!!  Strawberries, yogurt, and CHOCOLATE granola!!!!  The very best!  I mean who doesn't like chocolate?  Go check this recipe out at the Sweet Tooth Life.  Go now!!

1. Strawberry Dark Chocolate Granola Parfait

FRUIT SMOOTHIES!  I am addicted to them.  No joke.  They're healthy, SUPER yummy, and with just a dash of protein power, they have it all!  Here are some of my favorites:)

Oatmeal oatmeal oatmeal!!  CAN SOMEONE SAY OATMEAL?  Here's a delicious baked oatmeal recipe from another blog I love.

5.  Bean and cheese quesadilla!

I love grabbing a tortilla and folding in beans, a little bit of salsa, and a sprinkling of cheese and then cooking it on our griddle.

 6.  Trail mix

This one is pretty self-explanatory.  A handful of nuts is great any day, and add the extra bonus of those few M&Ms, and you're sold.

7. Peppers and humus

Really any veggie with humus is good.

8. Hard boiled eggs

Perfect breakfast that takes no time at all.  You can also do scrambled, sunny-side up, or poached.

9. Edamame!

You can boil em, mash em, stick em in a stew.... (only Lord of the Rings fans will understand that one)  Cook them in your steamer, bake them in your oven, really the possibilities are endless!  Here's a great post on all the benefits:

10. Greek yogurt chocolate chip blueberry energy bars.

 That's a mouthful, isn't it?

11.  Cottage cheese

Yup, you got it.  This seemingly ordinary little dish actually has more then 10 grams of protein in it!!  I think it's worth even if it might not be your favorite thing to eat, don't you agree?

12. Peanut butter and apples.

Really any fruit would work with this, actually.  And if you don't mind a lot of sweetness, mix together peanut butter and plain Greek yogurt for a sweet dip.

13.  Milk!

A cup of milk has eight grams of protein.  Try drinking that right after volleyball!

14. Beef Jerkey

I was kind of shocked too.  But I was looking through a bunch of great ideas for snacks, this was one that kept popping up!  Apparently there isn't much protein, but there's a lot of sodium, which can also be good for when you need energy.

15. Slim chicken taco

I really want to try this one.  A few pieces of chicken, leafy greens, and salsa rolled up in a tortilla.  Mm mm!
